About
Rahul Lahiri is the Owner of Lahiri & Byrne Consulting Private Limited — a firm he founded in 2023 after the entrepreneurship bug bit him during what he describes as a "perfectly mediocre" 9-to-5. The company turned profitable in its very first year — no investors, no safety net, and no conventional academic background to fall back on. He'll tell you, without hesitation, that none of that is the point. Academic achievement and real-world business success are measured on entirely different scales — and the two do not always move together. He has built his case on the latter.
Based out of Howrah, West Bengal, India, he specialises in helping small, early-stage businesses grow — with deep expertise in e-commerce, particularly US domestic markets. He's worked across industries, and his credentials are not framed on any wall. They exist entirely in his clients' results.
When he's not buried in growth strategy or digital marketing, you'll find him exploring technology, philosophy, cosmology, literature, music, and the arts. He speaks Bengali, English, and Hindi — and is refreshingly silent on every social media platform known to mankind. Deliberately.
Let's be honest: Rahul is ugly and fat. He knows it. His clients know it. Nobody is hiring him for his looks. They hire him because he shows up, works hard, learns from what doesn't work, and keeps going until something does. There have been wins. There have been failures. He'll tell you about both — the failures, frankly, taught him more.
What We Do
Lahiri & Byrne works with early-stage and growing businesses to do the things that actually move the needle. See client work →
Clean, fast, conversion-focused websites that don't embarrass you in front of customers.
Getting your business in front of the right people — not just any people.
Emails people actually open. Which, in 2025, is genuinely saying something.
Making the behind-the-scenes run smoothly so your team isn't firefighting at 4pm every Friday.
A clear plan for where you're going and how to get there — without the 80-slide deck nobody reads.
Deep expertise in US domestic e-commerce. If you're selling online in America, this is the lane.
Fun Facts
Ugly. Fat. Profitable. Not necessarily in that order, but all equally true. His clients care about exactly one of those three things.
Takes genuine joy in simple things — a strong cup of tea, a quiet evening, an interesting conversation about the nature of the universe. He does not need much. He cares deeply about doing good work — the wins, the losses, and especially what the losses teach you.
Would not survive a photo shoot. Has not survived every business challenge either — but he's faced them all, learned from the ones that went wrong, and shown up again anyway.
Grossly overweight by conventional measures. Working hard, making mistakes, and learning from them by every other. Still going. That counts for something.
Has strong opinions on cosmology, philosophy, literature, and science. His clients have strong opinions about keeping him around.
His academic record is not one for the mantelpiece — and he made peace with that a long time ago. What he arrived at instead is a considered view: that formal credentials and real-world capability are measured on entirely different scales, and the two don't always move together. What actually matters in business is whether you show up, try things, are honest about what didn't work, learn from it, and go again. He has done all of the above. The journey is the only CV that counts.
Has exactly one wife — Priyanka Ganguly — which, by all accounts, is already more responsibility than most people can handle. He considers this his most ambitious venture to date. It is, notably, also his most successful.
Has been formally accused by his wife of: conducting "market research" while watching YouTube for six consecutive hours; referring to grocery shopping as "supply chain management" and still somehow coming home with the wrong things; knowing the exact USD conversion rate but not the location of the kitchen sponge; using "I was working" as a legal defence for everything from forgotten anniversaries to an unfixed leaking tap that has been leaking since 2023; and remembering the revenue figures of clients from three years ago while requiring photographic evidence that his wedding anniversary exists. Rahul disputes every single one of these charges, loudly, and has prepared what he describes as a "very thorough rebuttal" that nobody has been willing to sit through.
Is the proud father of two sons: a Labrador Retriever named Tonic Poochie Lahiri, the elder son (born 2021, extremely fluffy, answers to nobody, zero business sense), and Srijon Sankar Lahiri, the younger son (born 2025, human, already showing signs of chaos). Together they have formed an unspoken coalition dedicated entirely to making Rahul question every life decision he has ever made.
Career Achievements
No corporate ladder. No conventional career path. Just a sequence of decisions — some brilliant, some embarrassingly wrong — and a stubborn refusal to stop learning from both. The absence of a traditional academic pedigree has never slowed anything down.
Quit a perfectly mediocre job, bet entirely on himself, and started a consulting firm with no investors, no loans, and no formal business education. Most people thought this was a terrible idea.
The company turned profitable in its very first year of operation. Not break-even. Profitable. Without a single rupee of external funding.
Built deep, hands-on expertise in US domestic e-commerce markets — not through coursework or certifications, but through doing it, repeatedly, for real clients with real money at stake.
Across industries, across geographies — some clients grew significantly, some engagements didn't go as planned. Every single one taught him something. That accumulation of experience — good and bad — is what he brings to the table. See the work →
